Forbes Finally Calls Kanye West a Billionaire, But the Rapper Isn’t Celebrating Yet

What do Kanye West and Kylie Jenner have in common? Apart from being high-profile stars, they are both billionaires.

Yes, even the rapper has joined the billion-dollar club, as announced by Forbes, the outlet that also gave the makeup mogul the title youngest self-made billionaire. Specifically, Kanye, who has long clamored for the monicker, is reportedly worth $1.3 billion.

However, the 42-year-old is contesting that the estimate is much lower than his real net worth, which he believes is more than $3 billion. If his claim is true, then he is richer than other people with 10 figures attached to their names like Kylie and influential talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

The husband of Kim Kardashian seemed pissed at what he believed was an error at counting because he texted the outlet that their analysis was wrong. He took the initiative to say that he is worth $3.3 billion because nobody in Forbes knows how to count, the text read.

However, Forbes wouldn’t budge about their estimate, saying that they don’t immediately believe self-appraisals. The magazine pointed out that it is still $3 million more than the 22-year-old social media superstar.

According to a Bloomberg report, Kanye’s biggest asset is Yeezy, which was valued by the Bank of America Corp. at $3 billion in 2019. The musician’s accountant, David Choi, furnished a copy of his client’s balance sheet, which put the artist’s net worth at $3.15 billion and $200 million in various assets.

To this, Forbes clarified that the $3 billion assessment came out of the thought that the deal is portable – it added that Yeezy is still part of Adidas. So, they just valued it like a royalty stream from a film or music.

Forbes, a reputable entity that estimates celebrities’ net worth, went on to share that the unhappy musician sent financial receipts to substantiate his claims. As such, they are saying that he is bluffing.

Forbes said it is contractually impossible to separate Yeezy from Adidas

This wasn’t the first time Kanye openly expressed his ire against Forbes for undervaluing him. Last year, he called one article disrespectful for allegedly failing to recognize him as a billionaire, which he believed was done on purpose.

Then, just recently, his irritation toward the outlet seemed to have gotten worse when Forbes launched its list of billionaires – and again, Kanye’s name was nowhere to be found. According to the grapevine, he sent a scathing message to the journalist, accused him of ‘toying’ with him.
